Dear Members of the City Council,
I urge you
to vote no on the consultant contracts to do a
new EIR on the proposed Regents Road bridge project.
These contracts would waste millions of dollars. There
are currently no funds to build this project.
The city should put this money toward the fire stations
that the Fire Department has said our community needs.
City staff even want to give these contracts to the
very same consultants who did the previous EIR, which
was so bad that the City had to shelve it after Friends
of Rose Canyon and other organizations sued. City
staff want to hire these same consultants to do the
same work again!
San Diego's system of dedicated open space parks
is a visionary gift that previous foresighted city
council members created. Please take up that mantle,
and protect these parks. Once lost, they will be
gone forever - and our city much the poorer. People
come from all over San Diego to hike, bike and enjoy
nature in Rose Canyon Open Space Park. Forty-five
hundred students attend school within walking distance
of this natural preserve, and many walk to the park
for field trips to explore and learn about nature.
These students come from across San Diego - from
all of your districts.
Spend our money wisely, protect our funds for fire
stations, and preserve our open space parks for all
San Diegans.
Sincerely,
[Your name and address]
